Mass Pike Exit, Lane Closures This Week Near Worcester: MassDOT

WORCESTER, MA — Mass Pike drivers may experience detours and slowdowns this week during construction at exit 96, one of the main access points to Worcester and surrounding towns.

The weeklong construction project began Sunday night. Exit 96 on the eastbound side will be completely closed through Jan. 28 between 10 p.m. and 5 p.m. each night. Drivers will detour around the construction via Route 20.

And each night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., both eastbound and westbound lanes near exit 96 will be closed, which may mean slowdowns in the area.

MassDOT crews will be demolishing portions of a bridge that carries traffic over the Mass Pike from exit 96. Work may stop due to weather.

Exit 96 provides access to Route 122 in Millbury and is the first Worcester exit before the Route 146 interchange.
