MBTA Commuter Rail Schedule Change Begins Monday

The fall and winter schedules kick in on Oct. 21. Get a glimpse of what time change and maintenance is coming up.

WORCESTER, MA — New MBTA Commuter Rail schedules for fall and winter take effect on Oct. 21. Riders can expect schedule changes of between one and five minutes, but no major disruptions.

One of the bigger changes in the Metrowest area is the addition of regular weekday service to Foxborough. As part of a pilot program, there will be 10 weekday trips to Foxborough along the Franklin Line.

According to Keolis, the company that manages MBTA Commuter Rail, the schedule changes happen so trains can use new rail infrastructure, and to avoid conflicts with freight trains.

"These bi-annual schedule adjustments optimize investments made in the commuter rail network and help ensure predictability for our passengers," Keolis CEO David Scorey said in a press release.
