UPDATED: More Than 7,500 Without Power in Worcester
Several media outlets, and residents, are reporting power outages in Worcester.
WORCESTER, MA—Update, 7:45 p.m.: National Grid shows that 7,500 are still without power, and the estimated restore time has moved to 10 p.m.
Update, 6:06 p.m.: National Grid shows that 7,587 customers are without power in Worcester.
Original post: Several media outlets, particularly the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, are reporting that there is a widespread power outage in downtown Worcester.
The building that houses the Telegram, according to social media posts, is completely out, as are other areas of downtown.
According to National Grid, more than 4,788 are without power, and the restore time is 8 p.m.
There are 78,638 National Grid customers in Worcester.
