Vanessa Marcotte Murder: Family Announces New Website for Updates

Breaking: The family of Vanessa Marcotte, who was murdered in the woods of Princeton in August, issued a statement Wednesday afternoon.

WORCESTER, MA — The family of murder victim Vanessa Marcotte spoke publicly for the first time in public on Wednesday at 3 p.m. since Marcotte's murder this past summer.

Steven Therrien, Vanessa's uncle, spoke on behalf of the family, which included her parents Rossana and John Marcotte, and Steven's wife Diega.

"It has been four months since Vanessa was taken from us," said Steven. "There is a not a day that goes by that we don't reflect on the enormity of our loss. She was a loving, intelligent woman who had her whole life ahead of her. In her 27 years, she had achieved much, but we know she had so much more to do."

Therrien said the family set up a website - vanessamarcotte.org - so that people may learn more about Marcotte and the causes close to her heart, as well as the newly established Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation. The site will serve as the family's mouthpiece for any further statements, or developments they wish to share on the case, Therrien noted.

He urged that as State Police and Princeton police continue to investigate, the public is urged to call with tips to 508-453-7589.
