New Worcester LGBTQIA+ Bar Hiring Ahead Of Opening
Femme Bar will open soon in the former Buck's space along Green Street in the Canal District.
WORCESTER, MA — A new bar for Worcester's LGBTQIA+ community is planning to open soon and will hold a hiring event this weekend.
Femme Bar is planning to open in the former Buck's Whiskey & Burger Bar along Green Street. Owners Danielle and Julie Spring have previously said they are planning to open the bar in early February.
Femme Bar will be geared toward queer women, but will be a new space for the wider LGBTQ community. The bar will be about two blocks away from MB Lounge, Worcester's oldest gay-owned and operated bar.
Buck's owner Nick Panarelli announced the closure of the five-year-old bar in November, saying at the time new owners would take over in 2023.
The Buck's closure was part of a series of Canal District restaurant departures last year, although some closed with a future in sight. Broth and the Hangover Pub closed in September, but this week the Blackstone Herbs & Martini Bar opened in its place. The spot previously occupied by Smokestack Urban BBQ will become a new apartment building, according to a developer.
The Femme Bar hiring event will take place Sunday starting at noon at the bar, 62 Green St.
