STURBRIDGE, MA — A traffic stop along I-84 on early Monday morning ended with state police seizing dozens of prescription pain pills from a Peabody man, according to authorities.

Just after midnight on Monday, a state trooper stopped Chaz Butler, 25, along an I-84 on-ramp for going 60 in a 50 mph zone. The trooper also discovered that Butler was driving with a suspended license, police said.

The trooper decided to search Butler's SUV, and found several bags full of small pills — and more pills packaged in a box ready to be mailed. Police said the pills were likely a prescription opioid, and totaled about 215 grams. Police also found a knife in the SUV that was larger than allowed under state law.
