Worcester Child Advocacy Nonprofit Gets State Budget Support
CASA Project Worcester County said Sen. Michael Moore prioritized the nonprofit during budget season.
WORCESTER, MA — CASA Project Worcester County is thanking state Sen. Michael Moore (2nd-Worcester) for supporting funding the group says will help sustain its juvenile court advocacy work in the new fiscal year.
The Worcester nonprofit said Sen. Moore prioritized CASA during budget season, pointing to funding tied to budget line item 8000-0313.
The state’s final fiscal 2027 budget includes at least $20,000 for CASA Project Inc. under that local public safety projects and grants account, and at least $407,602 for the group’s court-appointed special advocate program under the juvenile court department budget, according to the Massachusetts Legislature’s final budget.
CASA Project Worcester County advocates for the best interests of children in foster care in Worcester County, according to the organization. Court Appointed Special Advocates are assigned to amplify children’s voices, advocate for their best interests and support them on a path toward a safe permanent home.
CASA volunteers serve more than 300 children and teenagers annually through Worcester Juvenile Court sessions in Fitchburg, Dudley, Milford and Worcester.
"Senator Moore is a dedicated champion for CASA's mission, constantly seeking ways to support our programming," CASA wrote in the announcement.
