WORCESTER, MA — State police have identified two people from Connecticut who died in a rollover crash along I-290 over the weekend.

Near 7 a.m. Saturday, Luc Morin, 65, and Christine Banavige, 52, of New Britain, Conn., were driving a pickup truck eastbound near the Plantation Street exit along I-290 when their truck rolled over in the center lane.

According to state police, a 52-year-old Worcester driver in a hatchback veered into the lane Morin and Banavige were driving in and collided with the rear corner of their truck, causing it to flip over. The pair died at the scene, state police said.

The Worcester driver was taken to UMass Memorial with minor injuries, state police said. Police did not immediately announce any charges, and said the cause of the crash was still under investigation Monday morning.

The crash closed the middle and right lanes of eastbound I-290 for about four hours Saturday morning, causing long backups along the freeway.
