Police Identify Worcester Man Killed Along I-290
Several drivers hit the 27-year-old along westbound I-290 late Saturday night, according to state police.

WORCESTER, MA — State police have identified the 27-year-old man who was hit and killed along I-290 late Saturday night — but police have not said what may have led to the collision.
According to police, Jamal Mustapha was hit in the westbound lanes of I-290 near the I-190 split near 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Police believe the driver of a semitrailer hit Mustapha first, and then several other drivers hit him after the initial collision.
"None of the vehicles stopped. It is unclear if any of the operators knew they had struck a person," state police said in a news release Sunday morning.
Police did not release any new details about the collision.
Social media profiles indicate Mustapha attended Doherty High School and played basketball at Worcester State. Mustapha also had a 1-year-old son named Kyrie, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser set up in his memory.
"Outside of basketball, Jamal dedicated his time, energy, and effort to become the best version of himself for those around him. Striving to learn how to better himself for his family and Kyrie’s future," Aaron Anniballi, a former Worcester State teammate, wrote on the GoFundMe page.
