Roommate Argument Ends in Stabbing, Arrest
The victim told police the suspect was 'going crazy' and burning everything in the apartment, including a mattress and a laptop.

WORCESTER, MA—A man is under arrest after roommates say he started lighting various items on fire in the apartment, and ultimately stabbed a roommate who tried to calm him down, say police.
On Thursday, July 7, at 11:53 p.m., Worcester police were dispatched to a Dorchester Street apartment for a report of a stabbing. Police arrived to heavy smoke within the apartment, and a strong burning odor. Officers headed in to the apartment, where they found four men. Three lived there, and one was the landlord.
A 26-year-old man suffered from a stab wound to the hand, informing officers that the 60-year-old suspect had "started going crazy in the apartment," burning various personal objects such as a laptop, leather bag and mattress. The victim said when he tried to calm the subject down and stop him from lighting objects on fire, the suspect pulled a knife and slashed him on the hand. A third roommate witnessed the events.
The suspect was placed under arrest, and after became uncooperative, refusing to walk out of the apartment. The officers had to physically carry the suspect out of the residence and into the patrol wagon. Officers were able to recover the knife used in the attack.
The suspect is being charged with Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Attempt to Commit a Crime.
The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injury.
Based on the fact that all parties involved lived together as roommates, this incident is considered domestic in nature. As a result, Massachusetts law does not allow for the release of the suspect's name at this time.
