'Police' Hoax Phone Calls from Official Numbers Asking for Money
Phone calls coming from a State Police Barracks number are telling people they need to pay up to resolve complaints against them.

Hoax calls with numbers appearing to originate from the number of the State Police Barracks are being reported by the public, authorities warned Saturday.
The number displayed in the hoaxes is 617-740-7710 - the same as the South Boston Barracks.
When the calls have been answered a voice tells people to hold for an officer regarding a complaint or warrant that had been issued against them. The “officer” then tells the call recipients to get money — in some cases several thousand dollars, police say — and meet police at local shopping centers to resolve the matter.
