Scholarship Honors Music Teacher Who Died On Mass Pike
Kimberly Hannon, 27, was a beloved local piano teacher and musician. She died in an accident on the Mass Pike on Oct. 25.

MILLBURY, MA — The family of a local music teacher killed while crossing the Mass Pike recently has set up a scholarship to remember the 27-year-old musician.
According to a GoFundMe page, Kimberly Hannon's family is trying to raise $50,000 to set up a scholarship fund for students attending the Whitinsville Christian School. The scholarship will be awarded to graduates of the school for college.
"Our sister Kimberly Hannon was able to touch thousands of people through her music. To honor her memory, we have created the Kimberly Hannon Memorial Music Scholarship," Hannon's sister, Jenna Lynn, wrote on the fundraiser page.

Hannon died while crossing the Mass Pike on Oct. 25. State police said she crashed her car, and then attempted to cross the freeway at around 11 p.m. She was hit in the westbound lanes and died later at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester.
Hannon was born in Framingham, but grew up in Whitinsville. She graduated from Northbridge High School, which is next-door to Whitinsville Christian School, and Rhode Island College.

The Hannon fundraiser had raised about $7,000 of the $50,000 goal as of Oct. 31.
