From a Rosa Parks tribute on WRTA buses to book recommendations, see what's going on for Black History Month.

WORCESTER, MA — Black History Month will be observed throughout February, and institutions across Worcester will be recognizing Black history in a variety of ways.
Here are just a few events going on in Worcester for Black History Month in 2022:
WRTA Buses
- A front seat on all Worcester Regional Transit Authority buses will be reserved throughout February in honor of Rosa Parks. The civil rights pioneer refused to move to the Blacks-only section of a bus during the 1955 the Montgomery bus boycott — eventually leading to a court case that desegregated buses in Alabama.
Worcester Senior Center
- Craig Harris will present "Songs of Freedom" a "multimedia musical program exploring more than a century of union organizing, war protesting, civil rights demanding and environment protecting" on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m.
- The movie "Respect" will be screened on Feb. 25. The movie chronicles singer Aretha Franklin's career from a church choir to international star.
Worcester Public Library
- Check out Black History Month book recommendations here.
- On Feb. 23, Debra Britt of the National Black Doll Museum of History and Culture use cultural artifacts to tell the story of the African-American experience. Virtual event begins at 2:30 p.m.
- African American Artists: A Virtual Tour of Works at the Worcester Art Museum. Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m.
- The Intersection of Nipmucs and African-Americans in Worcester with Cheryll Toney Holley. Feb. 26 at 11 a.m.
Worcester Black History Trail Committee
- Residents can head to City Hall to see replicas of signs that will mark the city's Black History trail. The trail will go public over the summer, according to city officials, marking important historical sites across the city.
