Severe Weather Possible In Worcester County Amid High Temps
A clash of warm and cool temperatures above Worcester County could mean wind and hail on Thursday, according to forecasts.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester County could see strong to severe weather on Thursday as warm temperatures in the western half of the state clash with cooler coastal temperatures.
The National Weather Service issued a bulletin Wednesday afternoon warning of a slight to marginal risk of choppy weather over an area between the Quabbin Reservoir east to the Middlesex County line.
"Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon into the evening. The risk is greatest across interior southern New England. The primary threat is strong to damaging wind gusts, but there could also be some small hail," the National Weather Service said in a tweet.
The nasty weather could hit the region between 2 and 8 p.m. Thursday, according to forecasts.
There will also be a big difference in temperatures across the state Thursday as well. Springfield and areas west could see temperatures in the upper 70s, while Worcester will only reach into the mid to upper 60s. Boston won't even reach 60 on Thursday, the weather service predicts.
