WORCESTER, MA — Green Street — one of the few main roads into Worcester's Canal District — was shut down Thursday afternoon just a few hours before a WooSox game at Polar Park was set to start.

According to Worcester police, a tractor trailer got stuck under the rail bridge that crosses Green Street near Francis J. McGrath Boulevard at the edge of downtown. Green Street was closed between McGrath and Winter Street, police said.

Polar Park is located just a few blocks south of the rail bridge. The WooSox were set to face the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday with the first pitch set for 6:45 p.m.

If Green Street stays blocked, it might also be a major detour for pedestrians. Several of Worcester's larger parking garage are on the north side of Francis J. McGrath Boulevard in the downtown area, including the Worcester Common Garage and the Federal Plaza Garage along Main Street.
