Talented Local Musician Seeks New Venues
Scott Olson is a long-time organist in Worcester County. Now, he's performing at several local venues in the area.
Scott Michael Olson may be a bit new to the local events and happenings at clubs and restaurants here in Worcester, but he's a seasoned veteran when it comes to performing. His life as a musician began at the tender age of four years old, in 1972, when he was found at the piano playing The Wedding March. He also was found to have perfect pitch, and an uncanny knack for improvisation.
Scott was a soprano soloist in his church choir before the age of 10. He commenced formal study of the organ and piano when he was seven years old. He became choir director of his church when he was 12. Then, he went on to graduate from Anna Maria College with a Bachelor's Of Music In Organ Performance in 1990. He's also graduated from Quinsigamond Community College three times since then, having completed four programs of study from QCC. He is a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as well.
Scott has established a very positive long-standing reputation with several churches throughout Worcester County and beyond, having been an organist, pianist, and soloist for them for over 37 years now. He's had to overcome many obstacles, disappointments, and losses over the years. These have included having to cope with learning disabilities, Asperger's Syndrome, the loss of his adopted father from emphysema in 1986, and the more recent loss of his job as Organist of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church in 2016, due to its sudden closure.
Currently, he's hard at work in his home studio on his second music CD project. He will be performing at NU Cafe on January 18, Serenity Coffeehouse on February 23, and has a tentative booking with That's Entertainment in early February. He was recently invited to join the choir at Salem Covenant Church.
Scott has a new Facebook fan page, a new You Tube Channel, and a new outlook on life. His music is also featured on Sound Cloud, where he has 38 tracks posted there. He has also been working on new EDM/Tekno music and electronica.
"For me as a performing artist," Scott reflects, "it's not all about the fame, the prestige, and the fortune. It's all about being grateful for the blessings that God has given me. It's not my music that people hear, it's His music. God gave me the talent, the skill, the notes, harmonies, and chords, to create something of value and beauty; something that people respond to and are healed by listening to it."
So, the future for Scott seems very bright and hopeful. So far, Worcester has been a welcoming and supportive community for this talented local musician. His most recent foray into the local music scene here in the city will hopefully produce more notoriety, better recognition as a performing artist, and a means to provide a sustainable income for him as well. Time will truly tell, but it's becoming quite clear that Scott Olson is a rising star here in Worcester that should not be overlooked.
