3 Baby Goats Killed, Their Necks Snapped, In Massachusetts

Police in West and North Brookfield are investigating a case of disturbing animal cruelty. Anyone with any information should call.

NORTH AND WEST BROOKFIELD, MA—In a startling incident of animal cruelty, three baby Nigerian Dwarf goats have been found dead on their owners' properties. On Monday morning, two miniature goats were found dead, their necks snapped and bodies posed at the back steps of the home in West Brookfield on Ridge Road, according to reports. These miniature Norwegian goats were less than four months old, and police say there was no question the killing was intentional.

The owner "told us when she found (the goats) they were outside the basement door, feet facing towards each other and heads turned all the way backwards on their necks," West Brookfield Police Sgt. Matthew Letendre told MassLive on Wednesday around noon.

Now, North Brookfield Police are investigating a remarkably similar incident. According to police another baby Nigerian Dwarf was also found dead inside a fenced area of the owner's home on Monday morning. The owner did not report the death, because he didn't know how the injury had occurred. When the owner learned of the deaths in West Brookfield, he reported it to police.

The goat was last seen at approximately 2 p.m. and appeared to be uninjured.

This investigation is ongoing and the North Brookfield Police Department will be working in conjunction with the West Brookfield Police.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Chris Donais at the North Brookfield Police Department 508-867-0206.
