Wife Sought After Death Of MA Cop Husband Also Believed Dead: Police
Police called the matter a "tragic murder suicide."
WORCESTER, MA — The wife of a Worcester police officer found dead last week was believed to have also been found dead, police said.
The Worcester police announced the discovery in connection with the death of Police Officer Kurt Solomon and the disappearance of his wife, Karen Solomon, Tuesday, calling the matter a "tragic murder suicide."
"At no time did the Solomon family have any history of domestic abuse," police said.
"The remains of a female believed to be Karen Solomon were recovered in a wooded area off of May Street this afternoon," the Worcester Police Department said in a media release.
The release included a statement from the Solomon family.
"The nightmare of the past week has left our family heartbroken and rudderless," the statement said. "The compassion, dedication, and empathy of all the agencies involved have given us light in the face of darkness. The selflessness of those who have helped us weather the storm cannot be expressed in simple words. However, we, the members of the Solomon family, will try."
Kurt Solomon was a 31-year veteran of the police force.
“Officer Solomon dedicated more than three decades of his life to serving the City of Worcester,” the New England Police Benevolent Association said last week. “Throughout his distinguished career, he earned the respect of those who served alongside him and was known as an incredibly dependable officer, colleague and friend.”
An arrest warrant had been issued for Karen Solomon, 58.
