WORCESTER, MA — A parking ban will go into effect in Worcester beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday ahead what could be a messy winter storm.

Worcester typically bans street parking ahead of snow events. Wednesday's storm could bring up to 2 inches to the Worcester area, according to the National Weather Service. However, the snow may turn to rain by Thursday morning, according to forecasts.

A parking ban in Worcester means no on-street parking on major arteries, along bus routes, and on downtown streets. City parking garages will be free during the ban. Anyone who violates the ban could be either ticketed or towed.
