WORCESTER, MA — Several local fire departments responded to Worcester Airport Wednesday morning after a pilot reported an engine problem.

The incident happened near 10 a.m. and drew firefighters from Auburn and Leicester for a reported engine fire affecting a plane that was attempting to land at the airport. However, the Leicester Fire Department reported the plane had landed with no flames showing.

A spokesperson for Massport, which oversees the Worcester Airport, reported that the plane did land safely with no reported injuries.

In February, a small plane crashed near Worcester Airport in a field in Leicester. Three people onboard and a dog were rescued alive.
