Worcester Breaks Temperature Record As Thermometer Hits 61
It's a good time to take a stroll around Elm Park: the temperature hit 61 degrees around 1 p.m. Friday.
WORCESTER, MA — The new year isn't even here yet, and it's already spring in Worcester — or at least spring-like.
The thermometer hit 61 degrees in Worcester around 1 p.m., setting a new high temperature record for Dec. 30 dating back to 1892, according to the National Weather Service. The previous all-time record was set in 1984 when it hit 56 degrees.
Temperatures across southern New England were in or near the 60s Friday. Hartford also set an all-time record at 62 degrees. Coastal cities — where it's typically warmer — were still a few degrees shy of breaking records, according to the weather service.

The warming trend will continue for about the next week. It'll be slightly cooler over the next few days in Worcester with temperatures in the 50s. The next chance for 60 degrees will come on Thursday, according to the weather service.
