Temperatures are supposed to hit record highs and one coffee shop is making the heat wave into a fun game for customers.

WORCESTER, MA — Dreading the upcoming heat wave? One Worcester business is trying to make the most of the anticipated record high temperatures, by giving away free coffee — iced coffee of course. Brew on the Grid in Worcester is giving away 100 free cold brew coffees whenever it hits 100 degrees in Worcester.

“We hope that giving away these cold brew coffees will be a way for the local community
members to embrace and enjoy the heat wave and weather," said Sam Morris, General Manager of Brew on the Grid, "We also were looking for a way to say thank-you to the community who we serve each and every day."

The giveaway isn't limited to this weekend's anticipated scorcher — the deal last through labor day. Here's how it goes, if the temperature in Worcester hits 100 degrees, the first 100 customers in the shop will get a small cold brew coffee.

The business said it will make an announcement on it's Facebook and Instagram page when the temperature hits 100 degrees, to remind residents to grab their free coffee.

Temperatures in the state are expected to hit 95 degrees on Friday and up to 107 on Saturday. While cold coffee is nice, you should also make sure you drink plenty of water and caffeinated drinks to stay hydrated. Cooling centers are planned in communities across the Commonwealth. Worcester will have cooling centers set up at the Worcester Senior Center and the Frances Perkins Public Library.
