Worcester Court Closing Due To Coronavirus Infection: DA

The downtown Worcester courthouse will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday due to the infection.

WORCESTER, MA — The main courthouse in Worcester will be closed until Friday after an employee there tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.

The two-day closure will allow the courthouse, located at 225 Main St., to be disinfected. No business will be conducted at the building on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the DA's office.

This is at least the second time the Worcester court has closed due to coronavirus.

In late March, the Main Street courthouse in Worcester and courts in Dudley and East Brookfield closed after a judge who tested positive for coronavirus visited those buildings.

As of last check on June 11, Worcester had counted 5,068 coronavirus cases dating back to March. City officials reported 39 new cases on that day, although the daily case increases have dropped since late May.
