State police said the driver may have cut in front of a tractor trailer in the moments before the crash.

WORCESTER, MA — A 48-year-old Worcester resident died Friday in a collision with a tractor trailer along I-495, according to state police.
The collision happened just before 7 a.m. in Chelmsford near I-495 exit 87. Driver Elmer Rivas may have cut in front of the truck while trying to exit the freeway, state police said. The exact cause of the crash was still under investigation Friday afternoon.
The truck driver, a 39-year-old from Nova Scotia, was not hurt.
State police said they had responded to some 200 crashes across the state on Friday during snowy, icy conditions. State police did not say if weather was a factor in the fatal I-495 collision.
