Worcester Woman Arraigned in Beating Death of Lowell Woman
Breaking: the Worcester woman was allegedly part of a group that beat a Lowell woman to death outside of a party.
WORCESTER, MA — One person has been charged with the beating death that claimed the life of a Lowell woman last week.
Amirilies Huertas-Perez, 23, of Worcester, will be arraigned on Tuesday in Lowell District Court in connection with the alleged fatal assault of Gloribel Orengo, 44, on Nov. 19, said the Middlesex district attorney.
Huertas-Perez has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.
Orengo was reportedly beaten by a group of people outside of an apartment complex in Lowell after she had been asked to leave the party. She was beaten in front of her special needs son, and rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, reports WHDH-TV Channel 7 News. When witnesses arrived, they found the 28-year-old with Down Syndrome holding on to his dying mother, reports WCVB-TV.
