Knife Standoff In Worcester Leads To Assault Arrest: Police

Two men armed with knives nearly came to blows Monday along Millbury Street, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — Two men armed with knives nearly came to blows during an incident along Millbury Street Monday, according to police.

When police arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m., one of the men told officers that another man had threatened him after the victim stepped outside his business. The same man later pulled a knife on the victim at a nearby convenience store.

That caused the victim — who police said was "fearing for his life" — to pull out his own knife. The men squared off briefly, but separated without any violence, police said.

Police later arrested a 37-year-old Worcester man after finding him with a knife that matched the victim's description. He is facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, threatening to commit a crime and possession of a dangerous weapon.
