Worcester Man Charged With Attempted Armed Robbery: Police

WORCESTER, MA — Police arrested a man Wednesday on accusations that he threatened people with a loaded handgun.

Police were dispatched to M&T Bank on Front Street at 9:07 a.m. on a report of a possible robbery attempt. Police obtained a detailed description of the potential suspect and were told he could be armed with a gun.

Police spoke with witnesses who reported that a man threatened someone with a gun and demanded money.

Police located Javier Camacho, 42, of Worcester, who was across the street from the bank. Officers briefly spoke with Camacho, who ran away when officers saw what appeared to be a gun on him, according to police.

Camacho was arrested following a brief foot pursuit.

Police recovered a loaded handgun from him.

He was charged with kidnapping, extortion, attempted armed robbery, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, improper storage of a firearm, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of ammunition without an FID card, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.
