Man Hit, Killed Along I-290 Saturday: State Police

Several drivers hit the man late Saturday night near the I-190 split, according to police.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man was hit and killed along I-290 late Saturday night, according to state police.

State troopers found the man around 11:30 p.m. Saturday near exit 20 at the I-190 split. Police believe a semitrailer hit the 27-year-old before several more vehicles hit him.

State police did not immediately say why the man might have been out along the freeway.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had been struck by an unknown vehicle, possibly a tractor trailer. Evidence indicates that he was subsequently struck by other vehicles. None of the vehicles stopped. It is unclear if any of the operators knew they had struck a person," state police said in a news release Sunday.
