WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man accused in the death of a woman found dead near Mount Vernon Street last fall is now facing a murder charge.
A Worcester County grand jury last week indicted 29-year-old Donovan Foster on a murder charge in the death of 30-year-old Joanna Brown, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. Foster is expected to be arraigned Jul. 17 in Worcester Superior Court.
Worcester police found Brown dead on Nov. 3 in the area of 27 Mount Vernon St. after a missing person investigation, according to Worcester police. Brown had been reported missing by her family on Nov. 2, police said.
Patch previously reported Brown had last been seen around 9 a.m. Oct. 31 after leaving her job at the Bean Counter Bakery on Grove Street. Police later found her inside a gray Mitsubishi Outlander near Green Hill Towers, according to officials.
An investigation by the Worcester Police Detective Bureau and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office identified Foster as a suspect in Brown’s death.
Foster was first arraigned Nov. 14 in Worcester District Court on charges tied to a firearm incident, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, according to the DA’s office. He was held after a dangerousness hearing, prosecutors said.
The indictment transfers the case from the Worcester District Court to the Worcester Superior Court. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported Foster is a former romantic partner of Brown.
