Man Realizes He Was Shot 2 Days Later, Brings Himself to Hospital

A man was walking home from dinner and heard a 'pop.' He realized later that he had been shot, and there was a lot of blood on his clothes.

WORCESTER, MA—After feeling pain in his back, and finding a lot of blood on his clothing and bed, a man drove himself to the hospital nearly two days after he had apparently been shot.

On Tuesday, June 28, 11:30 a.m., Worcester police responded to a city hospital for a report of a 46-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.

The gunshot victim told police that he was walking home on Sunday night from a Thai restaurant at 545 Southwest Cutoff when he heard a “pop” sound and then felt a pain in his back. He walked home, ate his food, and went to sleep. He told police that when he woke up Monday morning, he was in pain and found it difficult to move.

When he woke up Tuesday morning, the victim was still in pain and noticed a large amount of blood on his clothing and his bed. At this point, the victim drove himself to the hospital.

The victim told police that he didn't know he had been shot, and was unsure which direction it came from. Staff at the hospital confirmed that the victim was suffering from a through and through gunshot wound to the left chest area. Doctor’s informed the police that the victim is in serious but stable condition.

Worcester Police Detectives responded to the hospital and interviewed the victim. Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit also arrived and collected evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
