WORCESTER, MA — Worcester officials marked a new milestone in professional development last month with the first graduation from the city’s Management Academy.
The program brought together two cohorts of cabinet members and deputies in Worcester municipal government, who met every other Friday for seven weeks to discuss workplace culture, labor relations and other leadership topics, City Manager Eric Batista wrote in a newsletter.
The academy was designed as an internal training effort for city leaders, giving senior staff a forum to discuss management challenges and shared expectations across departments.
The first graduating class included members of the city manager’s cabinet and deputy-level staff. Batista highlighted the program in a recent post titled “Leading As Learners,” which described the academy as part of a broader effort to strengthen leadership within municipal government.
