WORCESTER, MA — A Leicester man who has been charged with murder after a killing inside a Worcester massage parlor last year is now facing charges in connection to a shooting that happened in August, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.

Marcel Santos-Padgett, 31, was arrested in November after Yueping Zhang, 34, was found dead inside Angie's Body Work Spa along Pleasant Street. He was charged with murder in December, and a Worcester County grand jury upheld that charge last week, plus additional gun charges.

The grand jury also indicted Santos-Padgett on an armed assault with intent to murder charge in an Aug. 20 shooting along Illinois Street in Worcester. The DA's office said he fired a gun at a woman, but she wasn't injured.

"A Worcester Police investigation into the Pleasant Street homicide resulted in evidence leading to the charges against Santos-Padgett in the Illinois Street shooting," the DA's office said in a news release Wednesday.

Santos-Padgett will be arraigned Thursday on the new charges, according to the DA's office.
