Worcester Is New Headquarters Of Cannabis Control Commission

Worcester will be the new headquarters of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission.

WORCESTER, MA- Starting in mid-2019 the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission will be based out of Worcester in Union Station. The five person commission authorized the executive director to sign a 10-year lease.

Monday's decision comes after Worcester's redevelopment authority held its own vote Friday.

The new offices will be in the shape of a horseshoe around Union Station's rotunda. In total the space will be 14,000 square feet, with 25 offices, 53 work stations and three conference rooms. The first year of the lease will cost the commission $439,200, making it about $36,000 per month.

The Cannabis Control Commission said they're looking forward to working with the city. “The Cannabis Control Commission is grateful for the collaboration between DCAMM, the Worcester Redevelopment Authority, and the City of Worcester that made it possible for the agency to identify our new headquarters,” Executive Director Shawn Collins said. “Historic Union Station is ideal for its central location and accessibility which will enable staff to effectively reach every corner of Massachusetts and the public to continue actively engaging with the Commission. We are excited about moving to Worcester next year.”

The commission's current headquarters are based next to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission in Boston’s Financial District.
