Worcester Seeks New Ideas For Union Station’s Grand Hall & Restaurant Future

The lease with Maxwell Lucianos, which has served the space for 18 years, is set to expire in June.

WORCESTER, MA — The city is searching for a tenant at the restaurant inside the city's Union Station and an event space in the Grand Hall

The Worcester Redevelopment Authority announced it is accepting proposals for a new tenant at the Grand Hall event and restaurant space at Union Station. This comes as the current lease with Maxwell Lucianos is set to expire on Jun. 30.

Union Station, which was originally built in 1911 and restored from 1998 to 2000, is considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the U.S., the city said.

In addition to serving as a transportation hub, the Grand Hall hosts banquets, weddings, and other events. Maxwell Lucikano has been serving that role for the last 18 years.

The WRA said it is looking to release and advertise a Request for Proposals in March. Before that, the authority will host a listening session on Wednesday, Feb. 25, to get feedback and ideas from community members on how to best use the space moving forward.

That meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on the second floor of Union Station in the Cannabis Control Commission conference room.

“This is an important opportunity for the WRA to maximize the use of the space and showcase this incredible community asset,” said Michael Angelini, WRA Chair. “We hope that the listening session on Feb. 25 will generate excitement and fresh perspectives.”
