6 Inches Of Snow Possible, Freezing Rain: MI Winter Storm
Some parts of southeastern Michigan will see up to 6 inches of snow, while others parts will see freezing rain shift to just rain Tuesday.
SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN — Some parts of southeastern Michigan can see up to 6 inches of fresh snow by Tuesday night while other parts will mostly see just rain, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for all of southeastern Michigan until 4 p.m. Tuesday. The advisory was extended until 10 p.m. for areas north of Interstate 69.
A significant weather system moved into southeastern Michigan early Tuesday morning, bringing snow, sleet and freezing rain to the region as temperatures warm into the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas north of Michigan 59 will continue to see snow through Tuesday with totals ranging anywhere between 1 and 6 inches of fresh snow, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas in northern Oakland County will likely see between 1 and 2 inches of snow while areas in the Thumb region can see up to 6 inches of fresh snow by Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas south of Michigan 59 will see freezing rain transition into just rain by Tuesday afternoon when temperatures warm into the upper 30s, according to the National Weather Service.
Most places in southeastern Michigan saw between a tenth of an inch and two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation from the freezing rain overnight and through the first half of Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
More rain is expected across southeastern Michigan on Wednesday and Thursday as daytime highs will hit the low 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
In western Michigan, areas north of Interstate 96 (Ludington, Evart, Clare, Big Rapids and Mt. pleasant) will see between 1 and 3 inches of fresh snow throughout Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas along Interstate 96 (Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Holland and Lansing) will see from a light glaze to an inch of fresh snow throughout Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas along and south of Interstate 94 (South Haven, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Jackson) will see mostly freezing rain in the morning hours and then shift to all rain in the afternoon hours Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
