MI Gas Prices Spike Again, Approach Record High

Analysts are blaming refinery issues, the war in Iran and the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

Gas prices are still climbing across Michigan.

The average price for a regular gallon of gas across Michigan on Friday was $4.86, jumping nearly 30 cents overnight, according to AAA.

Prices in the Detroit area also jumped nearly 30 cents overnight. The average price in the Detroit area is now $4.81, according to AAA.

Overall, gas prices in Michigan have jumped more than 70 cents this week and 90 cents since last week, according to AAA.

Analysts are blaming refinery issues, the war in Iran and the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

The record for gas prices in Michigan was $5.22, which was set in June 2022, according to AAA.
