MI Gas Prices Hit 2023 Low: AAA

Gas prices across Michigan fell to their lowest point of 2023 Monday, according to AAA.

MICHIGAN — Gas prices across Michigan fell to their lowest point of 2023 Monday, according to AAA.

Michigan drivers paid an average of $2.96 per gallon for regular gas, an average that's 35 cents less than this time last month and 12 cents less than this time last year, according to AAA.

The new average means Michigan drivers paid an average of $44 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline, down roughly $34 from 2022's highest price last June, according to AAA.

Gas prices in the metro Detroit area also fell Monday. Drivers in the metro area paid an average of $2.97, which is roughly 12 cents less from last week and 3 cents less than that same time last year, according to AAA.

"As the state average drops below $3 a gallon, Michigan motorists are seeing the lowest gas prices so far this year," AAA Spokesperson Adrienne Woodland said. "If oil prices remain low, drivers can expect pump prices to do the same during the holiday season."

The most expensive places to get gas in Michigan were Marquette ($3.18), Jackson ($3.11) and Ann Arbor ($3.04). The least expensive places to get gas in Michigan were Traverse City ($2.87), Benton Harbor ($2.88) and Flint ($2.89).
