OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — A Michigan lottery club in Ottawa County won $6 million on a scratch-off ticket, according to lottery officials.

The three-person lottery club bought the winning 500X Money Maker ticket at the Down The Hatch Party Store, located at 1866 Ottawa Beach Road, Suite B, in Holland, according to lottery officials.

"Our lottery club has been playing together for quite a while and we always play scratch-off games," the club’s representative said. "I scratched off the ticket late one night, and when I saw the prize amount of $6 million, I had to look the ticket over several times to make sure I was seeing it right."

"I woke up my wife and said: ‘I think I just won a really big prize; you have to come look at this!’ Once my wife looked it over and confirmed what I was seeing, I knew we had really won! The next day I met with the other club members and told them the big news," the club’s representative added. "It all still feels surreal!"

The club chose to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million, according to lottery officials.

With their winnings, they plan to pay off their mortgages and then save the remainder, according to lottery officials.

"It’s still hard to believe that we really won," a club member said. "I don’t think it’s going to hit us until we see the new balance in our bank accounts!"
