MI Woman Dies After Tree Falls Onto Moving Pickup Truck: Officials
Wednesday's storms produced heavy downpours and gusty winds, knocking down trees that were linked to at lest two deaths, officials said.

MICHIGAN — Two people were killed after storms rolled across most of the state Wednesday, toppling trees and power lines, knocking out power to thousands of customers, officials said.
In Lapeer County, a large tree fell onto a moving pickup truck in Lapeer County, with a branch shooting through the windshield, killing a 36-year-old woman who was in the passenger's seat, officials said.
Police said the truck was driving west on Peppermill Road near Force Road in Attica Township when the tree fell onto the truck. The woman's 39-year-old husband and their 12-year-old son were not injured in the crash, officials said.

In a similar incident, a 17-year-old driver died after a large tree branch fell on a vehicle in Pokagon Township in southwest Michigan, the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
In some areas across the state, the storms produced gusty winds up to 50 miles per hour and heavy downpours, the National Weather Service said. Several major freeways were flooded out in the metro Detroit area, especially in Macomb County around Roseville, officials said.

Whitmore Lake saw a staggering 2.26 inches of rain from Wednesday's storms, according to the National Weather Service. Other rainfall totals include: 2.20 in Waterford, 1.99 in Bloomfield Hills, 1.77 in Owosso, 1.54 in Shelby Township and 1.39 in Roseville, according to the National Weather Service.
Roughly 12,000 people in the metro Detroit area were still without power Friday morning. The largest outages were in Wayne County in the Dearborn Heights, Livonia and Plymouth areas, according to DTE Energy.
