MI Woman Who Escaped Squad Car Later Arrested, Charged
Police said the woman squeezed through a partially open rear window and exited the police SUV while still in handcuffs.
MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI — A Michigan woman who went viral after escaping a squad car while handcuffed has been arrested and charged, according to police.
Kendra Leigh Aney, 38, has been charged with malicious destruction of police property, third-degree home invasion and a misdemeanor count of escape from lawful custody.
She was placed in jail with a $250,000 bond. Her next court date is scheduled for April 15.

The incident happened at 3:30 p.m. Saturday when an officer spotted a parked car at an abandoned business near Norton Avenue and Peck Street in Muskegon Heights, according to police.
When officers spoke with the occupants, they learned Aney had an outstanding parole violation warrant. So police said they arrested her and placed her in the back of a squad car.

While officers were searching the suspect's car, police said Aney squeezed through a partially open rear window and exited the police SUV.
She then ran away from the scene, still in handcuffs, according to police.
Video captured the woman's escape from the SUV.
As officers searched for her, they learned a resident in the 3300 block of Peck Street reported a breaking and entering incident. Investigators believe Aney was the suspect in that crime.
A tip led officers on Tuesday to an abandoned home on Rotterdam Avenue near Jefferson Street where they found Aney, according to police.
Officers arrested her without incident, according to police.
