Several Hurt In MI Hayride Crash Involving Drunken Driver: Sheriff

The victims are expected to survive, according to officials.​

ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI — Multiple people were hurt in a hayride crash involving a suspected drunken driver last Saturday in Allegan County, according to the Allegan County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said an SUV crashed into a tractor that was pulling a hayride with multiple people on board last Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the area of Michigan 40 Highway near 110th Avenue in Trowbridge Township.

Multiple riders, including three people inside the SUV were injured in the crash and taken to nearby hospitals where they are expected to be OK, according to officials.

Officials did not say exactly how many hayride riders were injured in the crash, only noting several.

Investigators believe the SUV was moving south on Michigan 40 where it crashed into the hayride, which was also moving south on the roadway.

Investigators believe the woman driving the SUV was drunk at the time of the crash and is expected to face a charge of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, according to a report.

Officials were still investigating the crash.
