Woman Dies After Falling Into MI Upper Peninsula Waterfall: Police

State troopers said the elderly woman fell into the Black River Falls​ in the Escanaba River State Forest​ in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

ISHPEMING, MI — A woman died Wednesday after Michigan State Police said she fell into a waterfall in the Upper Peninsula.

State troopers said the elderly woman fell into the Black River Falls in the Escanaba River State Forest, which is about 8 miles south of Ishpeming. Officials believe the woman was 68 or 69-years-old.

Officials determined the woman fell into the waterfall around 2 p.m. and troopers discovered her body around 4:30 p.m. Officials did not release the woman's name or her hometown.
