Local officials highlight recent industrial projects, higher-wage manufacturing work, and quality-of-life upgrades as they try to keep university graduates from leaving and convince more travelers to actually stop in Bay City instead of just passing by on Iā75.

2. Bad Axe man gets 3 years in federal fraud scheme (ourmidland.com) ā A federal fraud case with deep Bay City ties has ended in a threeāyear prison sentence for a Bad Axe man whose schemes involved a Bay City auto dealership and a local credit union. Prosecutors say multiple banks and credit unions, including COPOCO Credit Union in Bay City, lost millions through allegedly fraudulent vehicle loans and bounced checks tied to his business.

3. Bay County man sent to prison for damaging police station (abc12.com) ā A Bay County man has been sentenced to three to six years in prison after smashing his way into the Bay City police station at the Bay County Law Enforcement Center last May. Court records show he pleaded guilty to damaging police property and assaulting a jail employee, and must also finish serving time from a prior conviction before this new sentence begins.

4. 25 May Day protests in Michigan (gandernewsroom.com) ā Bay City residents have a local option to join statewide May Day actions, with a āWorkers Over Billionairesā rally planned outside the Bay County Building on May 1 from 6 to 7:40 p.m. The roundup also highlights similar worker-focused protests, marches, and mutual aid events happening the same day in cities across Michigan.
