• Car crash and fire kills 1, injures another in Berkley (candgnews.com) — A deadly single-vehicle crash at Edgewood and Henley in Berkley on Labor Day left a 52-year-old passenger dead and a 40-year-old driver hospitalized after their SUV hit a tree and caught fire. Berkley officers and a bystander pulled the driver from the burning vehicle, and investigators suspect speed and possible alcohol or drugs while the county accident team assists the ongoing probe.
