22q At The Zoo
22q at the Detroit Zoo is a worldwide event happening at zoos across the globe on May 22 to raise awareness of 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome.

22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome is a common yet widely unknown genetic condition caused by a micro deletion on the 22nd chromosome. Affected individuals can have health issues ranging from life-threatening to mild. Some are not diagnosed until adulthood when they have a child with 22q. Too many medical professionals have never heard of it.
Our event at the Detroit Zoo is part of a global effort that day to raise awareness and bring families together for fun and friendship.
