Ash Wednesday Services in Berkley

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent for many Christian faiths.

Lent, which is a 40-day lead up to the Easter holiday, is traditionally obsevered by fasting, reflection and repentance and spiritual discipline. 

Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, but followers are encouraged to attend Mass on this day.

During some Ash Wednesday services, the pastor will use ashes to rub the sign of the cross onto worshipers' foreheads.
