Dangerous Cold Returns, Snow Ahead

A wind chill advisory remains in effect through noon Monday, with actual temperatures from zero to -10 producing wind chill indices from -15 -20, according to the National Weather Service.

The coldest readings will occur between 5-9 a.m. Monday. The high temperature will top out around 10. Overnight temperatures Monday into Tuesday morning will be around 1, with wind chill values as low as -13.

Here’s what’s ahead for the week:

Tuesday: Snow showers likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as -12. Windy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 21 to 26 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday night: Snow showers likely before 1 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -4. West southwest wind 13 to 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 14. West northwest wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -6.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 9.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -5.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 16.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 2.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12.

Sunday: A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 33.
