Dr. Mammel is the director of Adolescent Pediatrics at Beaumont Children’s Hospital, associate professor of Pediatrics at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, and director of the Hough Center for Eating Disorders. “Eating disorders are far more prevalent than most people think,” she says. “Almost all young people suffering from an eating disorder exhibit signs that parents can recognize if they know what to look for.”

*A second informational session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. and will provide information for adults and their families about eating disorders, with presentations from Alexander Sackeyfio, M.D., and experts from Beaumont's multidisciplinary adult eating disorders team.
