Congregation Beth Shalom welcomes guest speaker Hannan Lis Saturday, Feb. 25 immediately following services. Lis will be discussing the secrets behind Israel’s tech based economy.
Lis is originally from Haifa, Israel. He is principal, COO and board member of the WW Group Inc, Weight Watchers’ largest franchise group. Lis is founder and CEO of Lis Ventures LLC, a venture fund investing in emerging technologies and companies. Through Lis Ventures, he is chairman of Estrakon Inc., an Ann Arbor based lighting display technology company, chairman of HBR Labs, an Israel/U.S. web collaboration and communication company and the chairman of Yoga Shelter LLC, a Mich. chain of yoga studios operating in Mich. and Calif.
Lis is a past president of the Jewish Community Centers of Metropolitan Detroit, a past national board member of the American Jewish Committee, past Midwest president and National Vice President of JNF, founder of the Land of Promise Foundation and a member of the Detroit Federation Board of Governors. Lis is co-president of MOPAC, a democratic political action committee and a member of AIPAC National Council.

Currently, Lis serves as president of American Technion Society and is also a member of ATS National Board of Governors. Lis is one of the founders of Michigan Israel Business Bridge, an advocacy organization promoting trade between Israel and Mich. Lis is the president of the MIBB Foundation and a board member of the Detroit Public Television.
