Grammy Nominee Loves Living in Royal Oak

Find out where musician Andrew Dost – of the band fun. – hangs out when he is in the city.

A real fun. guy calls Royal Oak home.

Andrew Dost is one-third (Nate Ruess and Jack Antonoff are the others) of the band fun. – the indie pop act that topped the 2013 Grammy Awards nominations list last week with six: Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Choral Performance.

Dost, who plays multiple instruments in the band, told Real Detroit Weekly in April that he lives in Royal Oak and hangs out at  UHF and Leo's Coney Island.

"I love Royal Oak. It's one of my favorite cities. I'm happy to live there," he said.

Dost is quoted in Entertainment Weekly saying he knew he hit it big when he was home and heard his song "We are Young" on two different radio stations at the same time.

"To hear it in my own car in my home town was really perfect,'' he said.

Dost studied journalism and graduated from Central Michigan University in 2005, according to Central Michigan Life.

He and fun. will be at The Fillmore in Detroit on Jan. 26 for a sold-out show.

The 55th Grammy Awards will be televised on Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
